Sussex Storm II v Portsmouth Force

The Portsmouth boys made the long trip to Crawley for their away game against Sussex Storm. The boys looked enthusiastic and, despite not having some of the taller players, they were feeling confident.

The first quarter started with Jon and Jamie securing baskets in the first few minutes of play. Cam, Rob and Asafe all contributed to push our score up. Some messy passes kept us from pushing the scores up further and Storm kept the pressure on, finishing the quarter on 12:16.

The second quarter saw us stretch the lead by 11 points, with Toby D, Jon, Cam and Rob contributing to a half time score of 20:27.

Storm came back stronger in the second half, pushing through our defence and keeping our baskets limited. An issue with the table confused the team and the coaches and we believe the correct score to be 32:34 (although the table presented 30:36).

Quarter four saw Storm take the lead with a 3 point shot and a steady stream of baskets, which shook the Force boys pushing them to work harder both defensively and offensively. Rob, Cam, Mo, Gabriel, Asafe and Jon all contributing to bring the score to 49:48. With seconds to spare, Gabriel scored that all important and incredible 3 point shot giving us the lead and taking the win.

It was a tough game with a slippery court but Portsmouth persevered to secure the win.
